Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine that has been used for over 200 years and is based on the principle that like cures like. It can be used to treat both acute (sudden onset – injuries first aid, fevers, etc.) and chronic (longstanding, recurring) ailments. Homeopathy works by assisting the body’s natural ability to heal itself and is natural, non toxic and free from harmful side effects. This means that it is suitable for all people from newborns to the elderly. It is particularly suitable for pregnant women and young children who may be more sensitive to the side effects of conventional drugs.

Homeopathy is holistic in that it treats the whole person rather than just the presenting symptoms. This means that the characteristics of the whole person are taken into account when arriving at an individualised prescription, not just the physical symptoms. It can therefore also be used for people who are just feeling generally unwell or a bit low. Homeopathic remedies are non toxic and non addictive. They are prepared in laboratories licensed by the department of health to strict standards of quality. They are not tested on animals.

Consultation and aftercare

After the initial consultation the homeopath spends time working out which remedy they believe will be the most beneficial for the patient. The remedy will either be in the form of a slightly sweet tasting tablet which you place under your tongue or in a liquid form. Full instructions about how to take the remedy are included.
